Hazmat / Hazardous Materials (H)

The Hazmat, or Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement is required if you intend to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) that hauls cargo that requires it to be labeled or placarded as hazardous materials.

How much does the Hazmat endorsement program cost?

To become a student enrolled in ELDT Academy’s Hazmat program, ELDT Academy offers only one (1) option. Online Theory Only,

  • Online Theory Only – This method is for student’s that need the ELDT Theory Training. The course is offered as an online course. Once the final exam has been passed with a minimum score of 80%, the results will be uploaded to the FMCSA TPR. The cost per student is $59.95. Click the button below to purchase.

What other fees should I expect to pay?

  • Initial Permitting Fees (est. $10)
  • Fingerprinting Fees (est. $90)
  • Final Licensing Fee (varies depending on state)

What is the process to get the Hazmat endorsement?

Getting the Hazmat endorsement is not just about taking a course. Depending on the state you are licensing in, they may have different processes. You should check with your State Driver Licensing Agency (SDLA), also referred to as the DMV.

  1. An FMCSA ELDT Approved Training (What this course is.) with a min. passing score of 80%.
  2. A fingerprint based criminal background check, approved by the TSA / FBI.
  3. Minimum passing score of 80% of the written exam issued by you SDLA.

Some SDLA’s will require you to get the TSA / FBI clearance prior to taking their written exam. Once all three of the items are completed, you will receive your endorsement.
